On cold and rainy days, we are usually apt to just stay indoors and watch movies all day. It’s seemed as though that’s what we’ve been dealing with in New York City lately for weeks, despite some occasional springlike days. Yesterday, Jimmy got us out of our rut and booked last minute tickets to the New York Aquarium located on Coney Island. We’ve never been to the area so we were excited to see what the summer hot spot had to offer!
The rain subsided but the weather was still a bit chilly so we bundled up and headed on our way! With only a short 30 minute drive, it’s an easy day trip for young kids. We walked around the facilities for about an hour, looking at the variety of fish, making sea lion noises, and waddling like penguins. It was James’ first aquarium experience and it was so adorable to see his face light up with every corner he turned and every new marine animal he saw. Based on reviews, we stayed for the sea lion show which did not disappoint. They were amazing to watch perform! After the performance, we walked along the boardwalk to Nathan’s Original location and indulged in chili cheese dogs and crinkle cut french fries. Delicious end to a fun filled day!
For our adventure, I wore my new favorite coat of the season, a Navy Toggle Coat from Kimi + Kai Maternity. Buying a coat is a huge investment, especially when pregnant. I’ve been following Kimi + Kai Maternity since their best selling Arlo Jacket, which has an extra zippable insert to attach when pregnant or baby wearing for warmth. I try to buy pieces I know I’ll wear for years to come which is why I have such a small maternity wardrobe; I’ll only be wearing these items for a short amount of time. But what I love about Kimi + Kai is that it’s not only maternity but it’s non-maternity friendly as well!
The light weight wool coat fits perfectly over my belly and best yet, it zips! It really doesn’t get much better than that. I actually have room to breathe. There is a polka dot detailing within the coat; it’s a big trend this season that I can’t get enough of. And the toggles are my favorite. It’s such a classic and preppy look and the definition of my style. I can picture wearing this coat for the duration of my pregnancy as well as this upcoming spring and fall.
Thank you Kimi and Kai Maternity for sponsoring this post.
