Williamsburg is only about a twenty minute drive from our neighborhood in Brooklyn but we haven’t had the time to explore as much as I would like. As soon as I heard of Drag Queen Story Hour hosted in a cute Williamsburg coffee shop, I jumped at the opportunity and signed up immediately.

An hour before story time, we picked up our friends, and headed towards Williamsburg. Traffic and a lack of parking did not deter us from our fun day.  After circling around a few times we finally found a parking spot to squeeze into right in front of the coffee shop.  With a few minutes to spare, we were able to partake in the story time activities.  A calligrapher was seated in the back of the restaurant writing Shakespeare quotes for the children while fresh donuts were being distributed from a local company.

Kinfolk had such a cute setup. The nice weather allowed for the front windows to be wide open and the green plants to be on display.  A chair was placed in front of a sea of donut cushions for the children to sit on. Harmonica Sunbeam arrived in a sparkly purple outfit, full of energy and ready for story hour! She read a few books, sang a few familiar songs, and led a craft activity of crown making.  James had so much fun with his new friends!

After taking our photo with Harmonica, we walked down the street to Bakeri, another coffee shop with lunch options. I ordered the Hummus and Avocado Sandwich and an apple fritter flower for dessert.  James couldn’t get enough!

My go-to outfit these days is definitely these overalls. They are so easy to throw on for any occasion and comfortable for a busy mama.
